Drawing
I'm going to see if I can follow along with this video series by Proko since I can't actually afford the course (plus, I shouldn't be buying new things for the purposes of this Depth Year.) I hope YouTube works again soon, it's struggling terribly to load any videos at the time of writing this.
I have an old sketch pad at home that I used for charcoal a lot and also some therapy note-taking, so I don't know how many pages I have left. I have plenty of scrap paper, though, should the pad run out of sheets soon.
It's been quite hard so far and I'm struggling with the friction of simply not being good at the basics immediately, even though I've never taken an art class and this is basically trying to unlearn many terrible bad habits all at once. My lines are ugly, my focus is wrong, but I must persevere.
Japanese
I originally intended to use Anki, primarily, but I find that vocabulary in a vacuum does nothing for me, so I opted for Renshuu and a peek at my old textbooks from when I was taking classes.
I'm breezing through Hiragana and Katakana revision and trying to get back to focusing on vocabulary, kanji and grammar. I need to get armed with a notebook so I can actually have any kind of precision when writing, my big index finger won't do.
I feel like it's too soon to tell if the spaced repetition is working long term, but I'm starting to struggle with remembering vocabulary. Not too badly, but I'm wondering if perhaps I should do it after lunch every day so that my brain has fuel and I've slept enough.
